Code. Simulate. Trade. Win.
We’re introducing Trading Arena — Gravity Team’s competitive trading simulation for engineers who’d rather ship than talk.
What it is
Trading Arena drops you into a live crypto market simulation built on real historical data. You’ll build and run your own trading strategy against real market data, working in real time for about 2-3 hours. No real money on the line — just your logic against the market, and the clock.
The event starts with a brief intro explaining the trading logic behind the challenge, so everyone’s on the same page.
The winner is announced on the spot at the end of the night.
Team size
This is a solo challenge – one person, one team. Everyone else in the room is your competitor.
What you’ll be doing
At its core, you’ll be working through large datasets to figure out what signals actually work for you. Expect to spend real time exploring and making sense of the data before you can act on it.
How to prepare
The datasets are large (100MB+) and purely numerical, so a bit of prep goes a long way. Before the event, it’s worth brushing up on: working with data structures like JSON, tools for handling and analyzing large datasets (e.g. basic ML/data tooling), and the basics of how crypto markets work and make money. You won’t need to be an expert – just comfortable enough to get oriented quickly once the clock starts.
Who it’s for
Senior software engineers, quant-minded devs, crypto-native builders – anyone who’d rather write the strategy than debate it. No prior trading experience needed.
What you need to bring
Your laptop, and everything you need to work on it – no monitors, keyboards, or mice will be provided, so bring your own if you need them. Python is the primary language for the challenge – basic Python knowledge is enough to take part.
