Announcement of Health focused 38th DevClub.lv

Ho ho hoooo!

Every year, before Christmas we are doing a commitment to ourselves, reviewing a previous year and planning what we want to achieve in the next year. To close this year, we would like to touch a specific topic, which is very important to everyone – Health. In the end of this year, we will talk about Health trackers, Health Technologies and where are we currently in this field.

If you care about your health, health industry and your future, come to the Health focused 38th DevClub.lv at 17th December 18:30, Zaļā iela 1, 4th floor (Microsoft Latvia office).

Agenda for Health focused 38th DevClub.lv:

  • All evening we will have opportunity to check out different sport watches and discuss details about them with Māris from Pulsometrs.lv
  • Emil Syundyukov from Institute of Electronics and Computer Science will give a talk “Health Monitoring – nowadays and future”
    During presentation he will talk about the devices that can monitor our activity and vital signs in everyday life. Emil will tell about what is inside of these devices, why they are so popular and are they as smart, as they are positioned on the market. We will also have a chance to see what kind of project are being built in Latvia and hear about the future and challenges of health monitoring.

Emil Syundyukov – Research Assistant at Institute of Electronics and Computer Science, Master degree student at University of Latvia. He is working in the field of medical projects – he sees the future in combining Computer Science and Medicine. Emil has strong interest in new technologies and using them to solve problems in different spheres, such as healthcare.
This year he started a community called “Health Hackers” – aiming to connect medical students, engineers, designers etc. for boosting Healthcare Startups and Research projects.
In parallel with that he is working as Microsoft Student Partner and Head of student Parliament in Faculty of Computing.

    This talk is for people with little sports experience and rather sedentary lifestyle willing to change it, start some sports to get healthier and do it in “smart way”.

Edgars Letinskis – works with computer, has sedentary lifestyle, had “Burning out syndrome” but found way to get out of it. Now he is smart, strong and gorgeous healthy. 🙂

  • Frederico Pinto from Accenture will give a talk “What can IT offer more for a patient-centered Electronic Health Record”
    Electronic Health Records have been around for a couple of decades but nowadays it’s reaching a new level. What is being done in Europe and globally. Patients want it mobile, instant and safe. Are the health national systems able to respond? Is the industry ready to offer more, and does this fall into Big Data?

Frederico Pinto has 10 years of experience as a physician in preventive medicine. After specializing into digestive disorders and nutrition, for the last 4 years has been focusing IT solutions for medical records, statistics and client/patient satisfaction. Eventually became a consultant for healthcare organizations to adapt and implement software solutions and digitalize hospital workflows. Today is a Team Lead in Accenture Latvija as an Epic Software consultant.

    Team will briefly tell their experience about creating workout tracker service both from WEB and app perspective, errors that were made and obstacles other startups should be aware off.
