- Ilya Karpov from Flomo will give a talk called “Does School Really Teach Coding?”
In his talk, Ilya will discuss what today’s schools are like, what topics are covered in the syllabus, and whether coding can be effectively taught in schools. He’ll also share his thoughts on whether it’s worth it for senior engineers, who can earn competitive salaries, to take up teaching programming.

With over 10 years of experience in software development across fields like e-commerce, localization, marketing, and car-sharing, and roles such as developer, project architect, and tech lead, Ilya recently decided to try teaching. He began with a course using Minecraft and other games to teach coding (as we’ve discussed before), and now teaches at a secondary school in Riga.
- Janis Seržants from Codelex will be giving a talk on: “What I’ve Learned from 5 Years of Teaching Programming“
His upcoming talk will focus on his experiences as a programming instructor and the key lessons he’s learned over the past five years. It won’t cover anything technical, but instead, will offer a personal and insightful reflection—an inspiring way to kick off the new school year.

Janis is a Software Developer with over 10 years of experience. Throughout his career, he has had the unique opportunity to teach adults programming at Codelex. When Janis first began his journey into software development, he faced a lack of resources and guidance, unsure where to start. This challenge stayed with him throughout his career, motivating him to make learning more accessible for others. Once he felt confident in his skills, Janis began creating YouTube videos and accepted an offer to teach programming to adults at Codelex, with the goal of helping others navigate a smoother path into the world of coding—something he wished he had when starting out.
- Alexey Buzdin from Teya will give a talk “Uni-versal Knowledge“.
He will share his personal experience and insights about Computer Science degree from a university and how it can help bootstrap your career in IT. He will debate on advantages and shortcomings of getting a degree from a prism of both student, professor and employer.
