• Alfreds Genkins from Scandiweb will give a talk “No Time to Load”
  In this session, we’ll explore how perceived performance shapes user experience far beyond what metrics like LCP can capture. Alfreds will share techniques used in real-world projects to design interfaces that feel instant—even when they technically aren’t—and how to hide loading times with smart transitions and thoughtful UX design.

• Armands Baurovskis and Uldis Baurovskis from Evolution will give a talk “Reinventing the wheel“
  Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of our in-house 3D renderer — from early prototypes to the current version. In this session, we’ll dive into the technical challenges we faced, the key decisions that shaped our journey, and why we chose to build yet another 3D renderer. Discover the insights we gained and the obstacles we overcame along the way.

  Armands Baurovskis is a Lead Frontend Developer at Evolution, where he has played a key role in delivering successful game titles such as Lightning Storm and Funky Time. With a strong passion for animations and interactive UI, Armands brings life to complex frontend experiences through smooth, dynamic visuals. Outside of work, he enjoys building mobile apps, riding his motorcycle, and spending time in the garden. His creative mindset and deep technical expertise make him a driving force in both game development and frontend innovation.
  
  Uldis Baurovskis is a Senior Game and Core Developer at Evolution, with over 15 years of experience in the gaming industry. In addition to game development, he works closely with core teams to expand and refine the technical stack that powers Evolution’s gaming platforms.
  Uldis specializes in rendering technologies and 3D architecture for game engines. Outside of his work at Evolution, he explores new technologies and approaches by developing his own games, and expresses his craftsmanship through wood carving, creating unique, custom design pieces for home.
  When he’s not coding or carving, you’ll likely find him playing board games or hiking in the mountains.

• Marco Zanellati from Evolution will give a talk, “The Scaling Game: challenges with an ever-growing codebase.”
  Join us as we share the challenges that Evolution’s frontend teams have faced as the number of our games has grown over the years. We’ll do some time traveling to see a few of the steps (and missteps) that we have taken while building the frontend platform that supports our games: building a core game framework, scaling our repository, and integrating other games.

  In this talk, we’ll explore how we apply Behavior-Driven Development using Cucumber JVM in regulated fintech systems like Mintos Wallet. You’ll see how we integrate Gherkin-based scenarios into our CI/CD pipelines, how Software Engineers in Test (SETs) own both the scenarios and their implementation, and why critical thinking and a research mindset matter when writing meaningful tests. Drawing from multiple Java-based projects, we’ll cover real lessons on scaling BDD, preventing false confidence, and learning from bugs to make our tests smarter over time.

  It’s no secret that the saying “software is easy, but hardware is hard” is very close to reality. But why is that? If it’s so challenging, why would anyone choose to engage with hardware, and how can the process be made easier?

  Nowadays the topic about IAM (Identity and Access Management) is getting more relevant, when considering ways to secure applications, identify users. In order to to understand how does it work one must understand modern authentication and authorization. OAuth2.0 and OIDC are globally used protocols, which teach us how to implement and handle all the necessary elements in this IAM world. Quite often this is a “knowledge gap” for an average developer, so it might be valuable to understand the basics underneath.
  You will:
  – examine closer how do OAuth/OIDC protocols operate
  – learn to understand common concepts like tokens, authorization server, etc.

IAM solutions require quite a lot of attention to detail and specific knowledge to deliver both centralized solutions and consumer specific.

• Atis Straujums from Zimperium will give a talk on “White-box Cryptography: Protecting Keys on Insecure Devices”.
  White-box cryptography makes it possible to use cryptography on insecure devices where attackers can observe memory at run-time and have full control over code execution. It is a software-only approach that protects the used keys from being exposed and extracted. This talk will explore how white-box cryptography works, when one would need to use it, and what solutions are available
