Agenda for Frontend focused 119th DevClub.lv

  • Roberts Ivanovs from Provencraft “Rust on the frontend”.
Dive beyond JavaScript-based frontend frameworks, and explore the potential of Rust-based web frameworks. Ivanovs will detail their real-world readiness and dissect the intricate WASM-JS interplay. He will share his experiences with WASM, Rust and the Leptos web framework, discussing its strengths and challenges and how it compares with the JS ecosystem.
    (Language – English)
    Tags: Web Development, Rust, WASM

Roberts Ivanovs is an experienced software developer specialising in Rust, Solidity, and TypeScript. Apart from his professional work in the web3 space, he leads a vibrant Discord community of developers and entrepreneurs and engages in Rust-based networking and backend development projects.
  • Edvins Antonovs will give a talk on “Maximising performance with React code-splitting techniques”
Building web applications with React is fun, but the JavaScript bundle size can become significant with growing application sizes, leading to slow load times and poor performance. To mitigate this problem, we will use several code-splitting techniques in React that allow you to split your code into smaller chunks, reducing the initial JavaScript bundle’s size and improving your application’s performance.

    Tags: React, Web Performance

Edvins has over 8 years of commercial experience working as a front-end engineer, predominantly in product companies and early-stage startups in the United Kingdom. During his career, he built products from scratch, led the front-end team, posted memes, and scaled the existing front-end applications. He enjoys writing blog posts about front-end engineering and learning in public in his digital garden.
  • Boris Goriachev from Helpdesk.media will give a talk on “You might want to try Svelte”.
We have used svelte in production for a year now. It is safe to say — svelte is an awesome peace of software, that does get a lot of things right. I will talk you through some of my favourite things in svelte and share some real life cases.
This talk might be interesting for frontend devs who might want to explore things outside react/vue ecosystems.
    (LanguageEnglish)
    Tags: JS, Svelte, Frontend

Boris has15 years of experience in web development, handling backends, frontends, and mobile applications. His preferred stack includes Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Svelte (he switched from React a few years back).
